This Cookie Policy explains how Coupon Span ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar storage technologies on https://couponspan.com. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides additional information on how we collect and use personal data.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. Cookies set by Coupon Span directly are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other domains (such as analytics providers or affiliate networks) are called third-party cookies.

How we use cookies

Coupon Span uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes, organized by category.

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the core functionality of the site. Without them, parts of the site may not work correctly. Examples include:

  • Session identifiers that let the site remember which page you are on.
  • Security tokens that protect form submissions against forgery (CSRF protection).
  • Preference cookies that remember your alphabet filter selection on the stores page.

You cannot disable these cookies through Coupon Span settings, but you can block them at the browser level. Doing so will likely break parts of the site.

2. Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use Coupon Span so we can improve the experience. The data we collect is anonymous and aggregated; we do not use analytics cookies to identify individual users. Examples include:

  • Click-through rates on coupon listings.
  • Approximate visitor location (country level).
  • Browser and device type, used to ensure compatibility.

3. Affiliate and advertising cookies

When you click an outbound link to a merchant on Coupon Span, you pass through an affiliate network's tracking system. The network sets cookies on your device that identify Coupon Span as the referring publisher. If you complete a purchase within the cookie's lifetime, the network attributes the sale to us and we receive a small commission. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.

These cookies do not contain your name, address, or payment information. They simply tag the affiliate network with the identity of the referring publisher (us) and a timestamp.

4. Functional cookies

Functional cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. Examples include remembering whether you have dismissed a cookie consent banner, or remembering whether you have already used the "Get Code" button on a specific coupon.

Cookies we do not use

Coupon Span does not use:

  • Cookies for behavioral advertising or retargeting.
  • Cookies that share data with social media networks for advertising purposes.
  • Cookies that build a cross-site profile of your browsing history.
  • Cookies that record your keystrokes or mouse movements ("session replay" technology).

If we ever add any of these categories, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals websites you do not wish to be tracked. Coupon Span does not currently respond to DNT signals because there is no industry consensus on what DNT requires. We are monitoring the development of the related Global Privacy Control (GPC) standard and may begin honoring it in the future.

Opting out of specific providers

Cookie lifetimes

Cookies have one of two lifetimes:

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. We use these for short-lived state such as the current admin session.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a specified period (anywhere from a few minutes to several years). We use these for preference storage and affiliate tracking.

Affiliate tracking cookies typically last between one and ninety days, depending on the merchant. Once the cookie expires, we are no longer credited for any subsequent purchase you make through the merchant.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulations, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will indicate when the most recent revision took effect. If we make material changes, we will highlight them on the home page for a reasonable period.
